The IPF powerlifting competition bar is untreated as per the rules of the IPF, in order to offer the best possible grip, so the surface will need regular maintenance to manage surface corrosion. This patina is purely cosmetic and will not affect the performance of the bar. Regularly brushing the bar with the included brush after each use (especially when using magnesium) is recommended to keep the bar looking its best for as long as possible.
